Each year this championship is sailed in a different class of boat. In 2000 Detroit Yacht Club hosted the event using the Flying Scot and sailing on Lake St. Clair. These photos are of the series winner, Gulf Yachting Association Flying Scot sailor, Brock Schmidt with crew David Bolyard and Hew Hamilton.  Scots racing in close proximity to a Great Lakes Freighter - what a wind shadow!  ...a close finish in a race on the final day.
